Scene 1 – Gossip in the Market #BasedOnATrueStory
(Steam fills the market, puddles reflecting light on the ground. Housewives weave through the crowd, a few glancing around nervously.)
Granny Tao (anxious, whispering):
“Hey… did you hear? Director Hsieh from the Labor Bureau… they say he used the Employment Stabilization Fund to host a concert. A concert? Ha! Just a cover.”
(She pauses, eyes the street corner. A black car passes slowly, lights flashing.)
Granny Tao (lower voice):
“They say the money flowed into a legislator’s foundation. That same legislator’s now tied to a campus #MeToo case. Everyone who touched the welfare funds… gone.”
Granny Ying (eyes wide):
“Spies? You mean… those staff planted in schools? The so-called counselors? Fraud ring members disguised as employees—backed by old rebellion suspects?”
Granny Mei (gasping):
“Not just that… reporters said NT$1.6 billion never made it on the books—it was used to buy land. Schools, welfare bureaus, counseling offices… turned into intelligence hubs, manufacturing campus incidents, tracking student vulnerabilities.”
Granny Tao (staring at you):
“You know what’s worse? They use those records—dating, divorced parents, depression—catalog them all… then run investment evaluations.”
(She pulls out her phone. The screen flashes red tags: ‘Risk Controllable,’ ‘Potential Disposable Resource’.)
『When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions.』
Shakespeare once said:
“When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions.”
Granny Ying (gritting teeth):
“No wonder the Kai-Kai case, the Fengyuan High case got brushed off as ‘family issues.’ Students died, then they rushed a shallow report! Abusers and bullies reinstated!”
Granny Tao (agitated, louder):
“Please! #WelfareScam—students stripped of hotline relief (110, 113, 1999) by counselors, social workers. Dozens of jumpers every year, and all they show is ‘counseling records!’ #StudentsCryInAnger! Public opinion crushed and smeared!”
Granny Mei (hushing):
“Keep your voice down! Their backgrounds are all Judicial Reform clique. Prosecutors, judges—they use judicial evaluations as control! #NextItCouldBeYou.”
Scene 2 – Rage Among the Students
(The livestream shakes violently. Hundreds of students fill the field, shouting. In the distance, officers form a cordon.)
Xiao-Yu (red-eyed, shouting):
“Why are we being recorded?! My parents never divorced! Dating means I’m unstable?!”
(Screams erupt. A student kneels, ripping counseling records to shreds.)
Student A (roaring):
“We’re not numbers! We’re not investment projects!”
Comments flood the screen:
• “Courts took the money!”
• “Counseling office = spy station!”
• “Director Hsieh, get out of our schools!”
『The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.』
Xiao-Yu (raising head, furious):
“The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.”
“If the courts don’t release the records today—
we’ll storm in and rip out the evidence ourselves!”
Comments explode:
→ “Courts are all paid off!”
→ “Minister Hsu is no saint!”
→ “Director Hsieh plays innocent too well!”
Scene 3 – Crowds Outside the Court
(Outside the courthouse, mothers, students, civil servants pack the square. Bailiffs bar the doors. Dark clouds gather, static hisses from loudspeakers.)
Civil Servant (hands trembling, holding a USB):
“These files… five years ago they already knew welfare funds flowed into Madam Hua and bipartisan proxies… But I got a warning letter—an A4 with my son’s name. And… a photo of my little girl in the school bathroom… sob…”
(He collapses to his knees.)
“All locked in steel cabinets.
One piece of paper smothered the breath of countless students!”
學生A(舉著手機狂晃):
Student A (shaking phone):
“Release the trial footage!!”
(The crowd raises red-marked records, sealed documents, donation ledgers.)
『Nothing is stronger than an idea whose time has come.』
“Hugo said:
‘Nothing is stronger than an idea whose time has come.’
We’re not afraid! That time is now!”
Granny Ying (screaming):
“How dare you! That’s my grandson’s school! Why use his future to build your villas?!”
Scene 4 – Storming the Court
(Glass shatters. The crowd floods inside. Alarms blare, bailiffs retreat.)
(White papers scatter like snow. Chaos everywhere.)
Crowd roars:
• “Hand over the corruption files!”
• “Reveal #SexualAssaultPreventionBudget flows!”
• “Expose the lies of Kai-Kai’s placement!”
Close-ups of scattered files:
• Sexual Assault Prevention Fund Allocation
• School Counseling Program – At-Risk Student Control List
• Child Placement Family Risk Prediction Scores
(Long shot: the rear court doors creak open—inside, dark red walls, iron cabinets, boxes stamped Evidence. Blood-red letters read: “CLASSIFIED – Prosecutors Only.”)
(Bailiffs fail to hold back; more glass shatters.)
Movement Narration
“Names blacked out, one by one.
But the red ink bleeds through every page.”
“They recorded children’s laughter, sorrow, moments of love—
then sold them, mortgaged them, turned them into profit assets.”
「但丁也說:『The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.』
“Dante said: ‘The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.’”
“And now, the gates of hell open beneath our feet.”
『When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions.』
『Nothing is stronger than an idea whose time has come.』
『The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.』
Narrator (female voice, low and poetic):
“Names erased, one by one.
But the red ink never fades.
Shakespeare said:
‘When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions.’
Hugo told us:
‘Nothing is stronger than an idea whose time has come.’
And Dante warned:
‘The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.’
The displaced souls sink into silent wells,
laid upon the property deeds of Minister Hsu.
The question is—
how much longer can students, and rank-and-file officials,
remain silent?”
